Who does mold remediation in Evansville?

American Mold Experts does mold remediation in Evansville, IN, and elsewhere in Vanderburgh County. Evansville is in the southwest corner of the state, hours from our Avon office, so we schedule projects as planned trips. The process is the same on every job: test to find the source, remove mold inside containment, break down the mycotoxins left behind, and verify with lab clearance testing.

Served from our office at 137 Production Dr, Avon, IN.

Humidity and the Ohio River

Evansville sits on a bend of the Ohio River, and its summers tend to be long and humid. Extended stretches of damp weather keep crawlspaces, basements and closets on exterior walls humid for months, and air conditioning that runs constantly can create its own condensation problems around ducts and air handlers.

The river has shaped the city's history. The 1937 flood put much of Evansville under water, and today levees and floodwalls protect large parts of town. Heavy rain can still overwhelm drainage in low areas, and homes near Pigeon Creek and other low ground can see water in basements and crawlspaces after big storms.

Crawlspace foundations are common in the region's ranch and postwar homes. A crawlspace with bare soil, blocked vents or a torn vapor barrier keeps the floor above humid and feeds mold on joists and subfloor.

Crawlspaces in a humid climate

Long, humid summers are hard on crawlspaces. Warm outdoor air flows in through foundation vents and meets cool soil and ductwork, and the moisture condenses on joists, insulation and anything stored there. Over a few seasons that’s enough for mold to spread across the underside of the floor, and the smell rises into the house through gaps around pipes and ducts. Stored items such as holiday decorations, cardboard boxes and old furniture often need to be sorted, cleaned or discarded as part of the work.

We inspect the crawlspace directly, take moisture readings on the framing and sample the air in the living space. If the crawlspace is the source, removal comes first and moisture control second. Our answer on whether crawlspace encapsulation is worth it in Indiana helps you weigh that second step.

Air conditioning and condensation

In homes where the air conditioner runs most of the summer, we often trace mold to the HVAC system itself: a drain pan that doesn’t empty, a coil that stays wet, or uninsulated ducts sweating in a crawlspace or attic. That growth is spread through the house every time the system runs. Our HVAC mold in Indiana page describes how we clean air handlers and ducts.

Holding indoor humidity in a reasonable range makes a large difference. Our guide on how humid an Indiana home should be gives practical targets for summer and winter.

Mycotoxins and sensitive households

Families with health concerns often ask whether remediation will leave the house fit for them to live in. We test settled dust for mycotoxins before and after the work, so the lab results, not a visual check, decide when the job is done.

We can schedule the dustiest parts of the project for times when a sensitive family member is able to be elsewhere, and if you’d like, we send the before and after results to your doctor so everyone is working from the same data.

We remove mold and mycotoxins from buildings. We don’t diagnose or treat medical conditions.

Evansville mold questions

Have a question that isn't here? Call a specialist

Is Evansville part of your service area?

Yes. We serve Evansville and southwestern Indiana from our Avon office. Because of the distance, we plan testing and remediation visits in advance and include travel in the written scope.

Should I encapsulate my Evansville crawlspace?

It depends on the crawlspace. Encapsulation helps when ground moisture and humid outside air are the problem, but existing mold needs to be removed first. Testing tells you whether encapsulation is worth the cost.

Why is there mold around my air vents in summer?

Cold supply air meeting humid indoor air can cause condensation on registers and the drywall around them, especially when indoor humidity runs high. We check humidity, duct insulation and the air handler to find the cause.

Do you help families with mold-related health concerns?

Yes. We test for mycotoxins as well as mold, and we can share results with your doctor if you ask us to. We don't diagnose or treat illness. Our job is the building.

We're done when the lab says so.

Every remediation ends with clearance testing, and our work is backed by a complete-removal guarantee. We don't close a job on a failed result.
