About American Mold Experts

American Mold Experts is a family-owned, multigenerational mold and mycotoxin remediation company. We’ve been doing this work since 2008. We are not a franchise, and we are not owned by a private-equity group. The people whose name is on the business are the people accountable for the work.

What we believe: killing mold isn’t removing it

Most mold work is built around one goal: kill the mold you can see. Bleach, biocides and foggers do that. But dead mold still leaves things behind, including fine fragments that are easy to breathe in and, from some molds, mycotoxins. Mycotoxins are chemical compounds, not living organisms, so there is nothing to kill. They stay in dust, drywall, carpet and ductwork until someone removes them on purpose.

Most remediators never test for them, so they never find out whether they’re still there. We do, before and after our work. That is the core of what makes us different, and it matters most to families who had mold “taken care of” and still don’t feel right at home.

Why we specialize in mycotoxins

Many of the people who call us have done a lot of reading before they pick up the phone. Often a doctor has told them their home might be part of why someone in the family is unwell. They know terms like mycotoxins, ERMI and HERTSMI-2. What they need is a company that knows those terms too, that tests for what matters and that will share the results with their doctor.

Doing that well takes more than a sprayer. It takes testing that looks for toxins, not just spores. It takes containment and HEPA cleaning thorough enough to capture fine dust. It takes a plan for the HVAC system and belongings. And it takes clearance testing that shows the toxins are down, not just the visible mold. That’s the work we’ve built our company around. Three things we hold ourselves to

Prove it

We test before we start and after we finish, and we show you the numbers. A job isn’t finished because the crew has packed up. It’s finished when the lab says so. Every client receives the lab report, and with your permission, so does your doctor.

Remove it, don’t just kill it

We remove the mold and its toxins, not just the stain. We fix or document the moisture source, take out what can’t be saved, and use plant-based enzyme treatments designed to break down mold and mycotoxins on what’s left. Wherever we can, we keep the house intact. Most homes don’t need the kind of demolition people fear.

Treat it like it’s our family’s home

We’re a family business, and we work the way we’d want someone working in our own kids’ bedrooms. That means explaining what we’re doing and why, not pushing work you don’t need, and cleaning up as if we lived there.

The enzyme products we use

We use MTR94, our proprietary blend of plant-based enzyme products from US Enzyme (usenzyme.com), available exclusively through American Mold Experts. It’s designed to break down mold and mycotoxins on materials that stay in place, such as framing, subfloors and wall cavities. We use it together with removal, HEPA cleaning and clearance testing.

Enzyme treatments don’t replace removing materials that can’t be saved, and they don’t fix a moisture problem. The lab results after the work, not the product, tell us when a job is done. Our page on enzyme mold remediation explains how the treatments work, and what they can’t do on their own.

Credentials and memberships

Indiana, where our Midwest office is based, doesn’t license mold remediators. Anyone can advertise mold removal there. We hold professional credentials anyway, because the families we work for deserve a standard they can check.

Our Midwest office is at 137 Production Dr, Avon, IN 46123, west of Indianapolis. From there we serve Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky and Michigan.
