Mold remediation in Martinsville, IN
River bottoms, hillside lots and older in-town homes, each tested before we remove anything.
Mold remediation in the Morgan County seat
We offer mold remediation in Martinsville, Indiana for homes along the White River, on wooded hillside lots and in the older neighborhoods downtown. Crews travel south from our Avon office. We start with testing and a moisture inspection, remove affected materials under containment, treat remaining surfaces with enzymes, and verify the result with clearance testing before we call the work finished.
River, hills and older homes
Martinsville is the Morgan County seat, and the West Fork of the White River runs along its edge. Houses on the low ground near the river can see high groundwater and flooding, and basements there often have a long history of seepage.
South and east of town the land turns hilly and wooded toward Morgan-Monroe State Forest. On a sloped lot, rainwater runs toward whichever side of the house faces uphill. Heavy shade keeps roofs, siding and decks damp longer after rain, which adds moisture to attics and exterior walls.
In town, many homes are older, and the city's history as a place known for its artesian mineral water springs means some neighborhoods date back generations. Older houses usually have more places for water to hide.

Houses on slopes and in shade
Some of the most persistent moisture problems we see in Martinsville come from the lot, not the house. A home cut into a hillside has an uphill foundation wall holding back wet soil every time it rains. Add gutters clogged by leaves from the surrounding trees, and water pours down right where it does the most harm.
Shade adds to it. Roofs that rarely see full sun stay damp, moss holds water against shingles, and attic sheathing under a shaded roof dries slowly after any leak. Our attic mold in Indiana page covers what we check up there and how ventilation fits into the fix.
Basements near the river
Closer to the West Fork, the issue is groundwater and flooding. Basements there may have been wet many times over the years, and past owners may have painted, paneled or carpeted over the evidence. When we test a home like this, we sample dust as well as air, because dust holds a longer record of what has been growing.
Storage is a common source too. Boxes, books and upholstered furniture kept in a damp basement can grow mold on their own and carry it upstairs when they’re moved. Our guide to mycotoxins on belongings explains what can be cleaned and what usually can’t.
Traveling to Martinsville
Martinsville is south of our Avon office, so we schedule the inspection and later the remediation as planned visits rather than drop-ins. Sampling happens before anything else, followed by a written scope that lists the work and any travel charges. The job ends with clearance testing, and you see the lab report yourself.
On hillside homes, we’ll also point out what we see outside: downspouts that end at the foundation, soil sloping the wrong way, window wells without covers. Those fixes are usually for a landscaper or gutter contractor, not for us, but naming them keeps the mold from coming back after the work is done. More on that in the common reasons mold returns after cleanup.
Martinsville questions
Have a question that isn't here? Call a specialist
Our Martinsville basement only gets wet on the uphill side. Why?
On a sloped lot, surface water and groundwater move downhill toward the foundation, and the uphill wall takes the most pressure. Grading, gutters and drainage outside usually matter more than anything done inside.
We live near the White River. Should we test after high water even if the basement stayed dry?
If groundwater rose enough to dampen walls or floors, testing is reasonable. Moisture can wick into drywall and wood without standing water ever appearing.
Do you serve homes out in the county, toward the state forest?
Yes. We work on rural and wooded properties across Morgan County, not just inside Martinsville.
Do you use bleach on mold?
No. Bleach can lighten mold on the surface, but it doesn't remove the mold or the mycotoxins it leaves. We physically remove affected materials, HEPA vacuum, and use enzyme treatment to break down what remains.
We're done when the lab says so.
Every remediation ends with clearance testing, and our work is backed by a complete-removal guarantee. We don't close a job on a failed result.
