Mold remediation for New Palestine homes

American Mold Experts provides mold remediation in New Palestine, IN, and the surrounding part of Hancock County. Our crews work from our Avon office on the far side of Indianapolis. Each job starts with testing to find the moisture source, continues with contained removal and enzyme treatment for mycotoxins, and ends with lab clearance testing.

Served from our office at 137 Production Dr, Avon, IN.

What New Palestine homes deal with

New Palestine is a small town in southwestern Hancock County, a few miles east of the Marion County line. Much of its growth has come in newer subdivisions around town. Beyond those neighborhoods the area is still largely farmland, with older farmhouses and homes on larger lots.

The newer houses typically rely on sump pumps and tight construction, and the problems we're called about follow from that: pumps that fail during spring storms, lower levels that stay humid in summer, and bathrooms or attics where ventilation can't keep up. The older farmhouses add aging roofs, crawlspaces and foundations that have been patched over the decades.

Sump pumps and spring storms

In many New Palestine subdivisions, the sump pump is the main thing standing between spring rain and a wet basement. When the power goes out during a storm or a float switch sticks, water can spread across the floor before anyone notices. If the lower level is finished, the water wicks into drywall and carpet pad, and mold can start within a couple of days.

Our answer on whether sump pump failure causes mold explains the timeline and what to do first. After drying, testing tells you whether any growth has started behind the walls. A battery backup or a water alarm near the pit is an inexpensive way to catch the next failure early.

Crawlspaces and attics

Some homes in the area are built over crawlspaces, and a crawlspace with a torn vapor barrier or poor grading outside can stay humid all summer. Up top, bathroom fans that are undersized or vent into the attic add moisture to cold roof sheathing in winter. Both problems stay out of sight until there’s a smell or a stain on the ceiling.

We inspect both spaces, measure moisture and test the air in the living areas. The crawlspace mold in Indiana and attic mold in Indiana pages explain what the repair involves in each case.

Working from the west side

New Palestine is on the opposite side of Indianapolis from our Avon office, and our crews plan visits so testing and remediation run on a clear schedule. Every project has a written scope before we start and a clearance test when we finish, so you know exactly what was done and that it worked.

If someone has already tried to clean the mold, tell us what was used. Knowing whether surfaces were painted over, fogged or bleached helps us decide where to sample and what to expect from the results.

New Palestine questions

Have a question that isn't here? Call a specialist

Our sump pump failed in a storm. Do we need mold testing?

If water sat on the floor or soaked into drywall, carpet or stored items for more than a day or two, testing is a good idea. It shows whether mold has started and where, so you only remove what's affected.

Do you serve farmhouses and country homes near New Palestine?

Yes. We work across Hancock County, including rural homes around New Palestine, Greenfield and Mount Comfort, as well as the subdivisions in town.

Can mold in a crawlspace affect the rooms above it?

Yes. Air moves up from a crawlspace into the living space, carrying moisture, odors and spores. That's why we test the air in the rooms above as well as the crawlspace itself.

What happens after testing?

You get the lab results, usually within 24 to 48 hours, along with a written scope explaining what needs to be removed or cleaned, how the area will be contained, and how we'll confirm the result.

Do you test for mycotoxins in New Palestine?

Yes. Along with standard mold samples, we can collect settled dust for a mycotoxin panel. It's useful when a musty problem has gone on for a long time or when an earlier cleanup didn't solve it.

We're done when the lab says so.

Every remediation ends with clearance testing, and our work is backed by a complete-removal guarantee. We don't close a job on a failed result.
